Campaign Measurement Framework

A practical approach to defining metrics, ownership, and reporting rhythms.

Why most measurement frameworks fail

Frameworks fail when they are too abstract, too channel-specific, or owned by no one. A useful framework fits how your team already plans and reviews work.

Step 1: Define the decision each campaign supports

Before choosing KPIs, clarify the business outcome the campaign should influence—pipeline, revenue, retention, or awareness with a downstream conversion goal.

Step 2: Assign one metric owner per layer

Campaign owners track activity and spend. Channel specialists validate source data. Finance or ops confirms revenue definitions. When ownership is explicit, reporting gaps surface early.

Step 3: Set a reporting rhythm and stick to it

Weekly operational reviews and monthly leadership summaries work well for most teams. Use the same template every cycle so comparisons stay meaningful.

Step 4: Document definitions once

Write down how ROI, conversion, and revenue are calculated. Shared definitions prevent the most expensive meetings: the ones spent reconciling numbers.
